May

Very happy to read the outcome of my interview with Supernatural writer Dorlana Vann! I’ve put a link to her blog on the main page; she asked some really thought provoking questions for me and she writes amazing stories - well worth checking out. I’ve also just finished painting a moon fairy which is now available!

Rant of the Week: Workmen - who seemingly must attend training sessions on how to shout lewd remarks.

April

I have a new package release with AMI, solely of my pin up art,  which is proving very popular at the moment! I’ve also been contacted by a writer who would like to interview me about my art, which is really nice of her. Im looking forward to hearing her questions!

Ive also just opened an online shop with RedBubble where my art is available to buy as laminated prints and greeting cards.

Been experimenting with acrylic paints this week as I love how vibrant they can look. Not liking them much so far- too messy ( or maybe that’s just me!)

Rant of the Week: People who borrow things and don’t return them. Fine if they haven’t finished with them yet, but keeping it hoping you won’t remember, is annoying and rude

March

Birthday month for me :) Had a really nice time and thankyou to everyone for their messages, cards and presents ( it was another Doctor Who themed gift,  year!)

Its been nice to be contacted by a couple more people who use my art for their graphics etc- Ive loved seeing the results of their work!

Rant of the Week: People who expect you to do them favours and lavish attention upon them, and yet can’t be bothered acknowledging all you do for them. I’m done with it - find some other mug!

February

Valentine wishes to everybody! Its been a busy time getting back into the swing of things after Christmas, that and being in my sick bed for ages! Everybody I know, seems to be ill lately! I’m very busy producing pin up art at the moment, and sadly the faeries are on my long ‘to do’ list for the time being! It’s looking more likely that I will be setting up a new sister site solely for my pin up art, so as not to offend anyone! This has opened up a new world for me, in terms of contacts and opportunities, so I think it may be less confusing to keep them separate!

I’ve also been suckered into Twitter! I’m still not sure if it has much point but I’ve got quite a few followers already and I’ve been posting my art on there! If anyone is interested , it’s Kathy_Siney_Art !

Rant of the Week : Gossips. People with such boring lives, that they feel compelled to pry into mine....even worse when they try to hide it and think I’m blissfully ignorant! ha!

January

Happy New Year , Fairy Friends!

I’m hoping that this year will be as good as the last! First of all, I’m very pleased to have been signed by Heaven and Earth Designs...they are a very well established cross stitch and embroidery design company. They will be selling charts with my artwork, both on their website ; wholesale, and through retail outlets found on their links page.

The company Zazzle, which I sell my merchandise through, has now expanded to the UK - which is great news to not have to pay huge shipping fees from the USA! There are new products on there, including bumper stickers and magnets!

My Rant of the Week ( this is likely to be a recurring feature - there are certain things I just HAVE to get off my chest!!!!) : disgusting people in shops etc, who cough and sneeze all over you. Niiiice! Thanks for giving me your germs!

December

Oh dear...its getting near to that time of year again! Despite my love of glitter and all things magical, I’ve actually loathed Christmas in recent years.   It just seems to be a time of year for unnecessary expense, rushing around in crowded shops and then being expected to get together with people you actually don’t even like.  Its very bizarre! I actually prefer to celebrate Yule....it has more significant meaning for me - and less pressure. My husband wants to ignore the Festive season completely - and Im starting to agree! Just call me Scrooge!  Ah well- at least its a good time of year to hear plenty of Shaky’s  ‘Merry Christmas Everyone’ song!!

I’ve got a new painting available as a print - Ice Magic, which is also in the online art show at FAE. I really wanted to complete a set of Angels in time for December, but sadly time has got away with me again. Maybe next year I’ll be more organised!

This year has been really good for me so far with my art and I’m looking forward to new opportunities next year.

Huge glittery THANKYOUs to customers and friends for your support! A couple of friends in particular have been so lovely - not just in helping promote my website a great deal, but for moral support, fun times and endless phone chats........ you know who you are!

Here’s to next year then....I hope everyone has a stress-free Happy Christmas and Yule! Let’s hope it’s a safe peaceful time for everyone. Oh and if anyone wants to put a Nintendo Wii in my stocking, then please feel free!!!;)

November

Hope everybody had a fun Halloween! It’s my favorite time of the year- I just love it so much! I dressed as a Scarlet Witch this year ; Dorothy would have been proud of my ruby glittery shoes!

I’m also fresh from my return to Stratford again, to see David Tennant in glorious technicolour! Wonderful! NOT happy he’s leaving Doctor Who next year but it had to happen one day. He’ll be a tough act to follow.

I’ve just got an online portfolio with Absolute Arts. They showcase artwork and networks artists with galleries and collectors. You can never have too much promotion!

I’ve also got a new package of 12 images with AMI which comprises of both gothic and good faeries!

October

Ok, I admit it - Im very bad at posting up to date news and blogging! Most of my friends have blog accounts with LiveJournal and such like, and Im amazed how they find the time! Ive been persuaded to start one up, but I think it’ll have to wait until after Christmas now.

The Breast Cancer support campaign which was run by AMI, raised over $850 and I was really glad to be involved.

I’ve been busy doing a lot of pin up art lately, which I can’t unveil until a whole series is complete for a licensing company! It’s kind of hectic keeping up with two different kinds of artwork to complete, but I love doing both faeries and pin up, so I consider myself lucky. I’m toying with the idea of having two separate web sites now for each ; although none of my pin up art is offensive, it could be considered inappropriate, I guess for some people’s views. Not sure which category the Glamour Faeries would fit into though!

September

Short and sweet this time because I’m busy and far behind as usual! The Fairy Blessings picture is now featured on the AMI website to raise money for Breast Cancer; all the other artists have produced amazing pictures and I understand that a lot of money has been raised already.

My Pumpkin Patch picture is also in an online art show over at the FAE Forum; once again, I can’t recommend this website enough, if you are a fantasy artist!

There are a couple of projects coming up next month which I’m excited about...a new licensing deal and a whole new avenue for my artwork. Its going to be a busy time!

Thank you again to everyone for your support and messages - I truly appreciate it.

August

I’m sooo behind with things lately!  First of all, Im really happy to have just signed a new contract with Candles Enchanted, to license my art on their lovely products! They produce a wide range of candles in jars and tins made from natural Soy wax. I was given free range to choose my own colours and fragrances - and there were hundreds of intoxicating scents to choose from! These will be available in the coming months, so watch this space!

I was pleased to be the August Featured Artist on the Enchanted Designs website too; they very kindly had a full page article about me with my artwork on display!

I’ve just been asked to submit an artwork, along with other artists, for an Artistic Minds special event that they are doing in October for Breast Cancer. These graphics will be a one time offer on there and all the proceeds go to the charity; a very worthy cause and a great idea.  Whilst on the subject of graphics, I was so touched to be contacted by a lovely girl who had bought my package from AMI. She made two pictures for me and used some of my art in a tutorial on her website - psp1stop. I have posted her work on our new Fan Art page, including a link to her forum on our links page, This looks a great place to be, if this is your hobby too! Our new page is specifically for these fantastic creations. So if you have made any graphics etc or had tattoos of my art, or even photos of you wearing our merchandise (tastefully please!!;) ) then please send them in to us for inclusion!

A new MySpace page has been created just for my art too. www.myspace.com/kathysiney so please feel free to add us as a friend on there! You can also view brand new products there, that I have available on Zazzle too, which include mugs, keyrings, postcards, and bags; as well as a wider range of art on existing products.

I had a lovely few days away mid August in Stratford upon Avon to see David Tennant play Hamlet! Wonderful!! I do confess to not being much of a Shakespeare fan, but seeing it performed by such talented actors was amazing. I could go on and on about my glee at seeing Mr Tennant up close and personal but perhaps I shouldnt!!!! Stratford is such a beautiful place and I’m making a return trip there in November.

Thankyou once more to everyone who is still promoting me, as well as new customers! I’m really pleased at the feedback I’ve received so far and it’s very much appreciated!

July

What a hectic month! Despite a couple of minor hitches, the new site launched (as you can see!) at the start of July. It was an exciting time and I still can’t thank people enough for all their support. I was so touched by all the good luck messages -  and I even received cards, balloons, champagne ( a little tipsy fairy with a wonky tiara, here!) and had a gorgeous cake made for me, with my Blue Moon painting on it! I almost didn’t want to cut into it but cake never lasts long in our house!! I also really appreciate those who promoted me non-stop and put links on their MySpace / Facebook and websites - not to mention those who signed my guestbook. Thank you! Prints are selling  already, and it’s been good to see which are the most popular.....it’s not the ones I thought it would be, so it’s been interesting!

I’m very proud to have just signed a contract with Artistic Minds Inc. too! This company produce licensed packages of art for sale, for use as graphics, avatars,  tubes, web sets and layouts etc ( the kind of glittery images you find on MySpace and such like). This hopefully stops people using artists’ work on the internet without their permission and not crediting them for the work. I am also signed up to take part in interviews and fan chats, so that should be fun!

I’m busy just now, developing a new section to the Faery Art page, so that all my Pin-up style little ladies can go in there! I really love doing these pictures; I’m a big fan of Burlesque - especially Immodesty Blaize ( love her name!), along with 1950’s Marilyn style icons, so these are fun to do. Check out the first few in my latest set - The Sizzle Sisters!

Trixie Delicious                              Roxy Delight                           Lola Delectable

I also really want to give a plug to my lovely friends over at FAE Forum too.....its a really good place to be a part of, and everyone is so supportive of each other. If you’re an emerging artist / creative person, then I recommend you join - there’s a wealth of advice and information on there.and you’ll meet some nice people!

I’m receiving good feedback from my Gothic style faeries and have been asked to do more like this. I’ve also had a few requests to do male faeries / angels......hmmmm, can’t think why!!! I do think I deserve a good life model to work from, for these however - ha ha!!! I think I could pay a fair rate for David Tennant or John Barrowman ! ; )

 June

We’ve just created a Facebook page especially for SilverWingsArt, which Im happy with and its a nice way to keep in touch with people too.   I’ve been toying with the idea of opening an online Zazzle store for a while now, and yesterday I did it. The company is based in the USA and it’s a great way of having your art on different types of merchandise such as Tshirts, badges, mousemats etc. I was really pleased that at the end of yesterday, I was featured in the Best Product Awards for the ‘Once in a Blue Moon’ image! Hurray! I’ve also just finished a new painting - Pentacle Moon, and it was from an idea I had a long time ago. It took ages and I suspect it will be long time before I paint lace again - it drove me mad!!

Another two weeks to go until the launch date of the new look Silver Wings Art website! We are of course, planning a launch party, to celebrate this  ( well- it would be remiss not to, wouldn’t it?!) Really couldn’t have done this without the help of my husband ( who works wonders with graphics and banners - not to mention being very tolerant!), and my dear friends - both in person and online. Thank you !

As for anything else...well, I’ve been even more busy lately with painting and meetings with suppliers etc.  I’ve been so grateful to my friends lately, for providing a much needed giggle or two, as well as encouragement when Ive felt stressed out !! Just read a wonderful book too, by Joanne Harris called ‘ Lollipop Shoes’  which was a magical sequel to ‘Chocolat’ - lots of lessons to be learnt in there too, about people not being quite what they seem. It gave me a good idea for a new picture ( as well as compelling me to seek out the perfect killer pair of  red shiny shoes!)!

May

I have been rushed off my little glittery feet over the past few weeks! I’ve just finished a new painting ‘Ivy’ which is available to buy as an open edition print.

Ivy

There’s SO much I want to do! I have lots of ideas for new pictures... I feel a surge of gothic coming on! Something has also been compelling me to paint an angel lately, which is currently in sketching stage. We’ve been working hard on the web site to overhaul the whole look and content. I never appreciated how much work went into this- we just take it for granted when we click away on the internet! I’ve learnt so much from my trusty web advisor ( thank you Fabulous One!). We’ve got lots of things in the pipeline and new licensing deals featuring my art, so watch this space! We really want to make this web site a fun place to be, besides a portal for purchasing my artwork. So keep checking back for competitions, e-cards, and fun photographs! We may even be including a forum in the months to come, for you to chatter about all things magical! ( Hint: close friends had better start running now, as your services may be employed as Admin and Moderator recruits!!)

Aside from the rushing, I’ve been loving the new Doctor Who series...I’m a huge fan of David Tennant as everyone knows! I’ve been planning for ages to draw/paint all the Doctors, just for fun ( and because I’m a sci-fi geek!) I love painting fairies, but sometimes I feel like creating pictures for me - the time is never there somehow! I also really want to do Superhero pictures - something which I became inspired by, from artist Julie Bell; her work in oil paints really is amazing. I’m going to start with either the Silver Surfer or Abe Sapien from Hellboy; mainly because I met Doug Jones recently, who plays both characters. After a lovely chat with him, he encouraged me to follow my dreams- he is truly a very talented and warm person.

April

Hello! I am very excited to announce my new contract with The Fairy Society, to license my artwork on their craft products! My art will appear on their scrapbooking papers, transfers and quilting blocks.

I’m really busy creating new art just now, as well as doing major web site changes and planning new projects. .I must be careful not to overdo the painting.... a little advice to artists out there - I have damaged discs in my neck and back ( I’m not a sympathy seeker, honestly!) which apparently has been caused by bad posture whilst drawing for long periods of time. This has resulted in the nerves in my hands and arms being trapped and causes agony and numbness in my fingers. I know other artist friends who are suffering the same thing - so it’s been good to support each other and give advice. The advice I’ve been given, is to raise your drawing board as much as possible - preferably at an angle and really be conscious of your posture. Try to take regular breaks every 30 minutes or so too ( something which I’m bad at!) and keep exercising!. ( Oh and spending long sessions on my Nintendo DS really never helped either!!!). I am determined not to have surgery for this and just following this advice and not lifting anything heavy, has really helped me. Hope it does the same for you, if you’re a fellow sufferer!
